GIADA's Podcast Flower on the Rock Special Offline Panel Talk Held at Deji Art Museum: Blooming Beyond the Gaze
GIADA's Podcast Flower on the Rock07.02.2026

On May 24, GIADA’s brand podcast Flower On The Rock, in collaboration with the Deji Art Museum, hosted an exclusive special offline panel talk themed "This Is How We Bloom." The event brought together podcast host Chen Luyu, Italian literary translator Chen Ying, Deji Art Museum Director Ai Lin, and GIADA Greater China CEO Zephyr He. Set against the museum's permanent contemporary art exhibition, Nothing Still About Still Lifes: Masterpieces from The World of Flowers Collection, which showcases over 140 floral-themed masterpieces, the distinguished panel engaged in a profound dialogue on how contemporary women can seek inner fulfillment and reclaim their own subjectivity.

By placing GIADA's archival runway collections side-by-side with the museum's fine art, the event seamlessly blended fashion aesthetics with artistic narrative. Each season, GIADA draws inspiration from a specific flower in Sandro Botticelli’s Renaissance masterpiece Primavera, translating its spiritual core into delicate textile pieces. This curation allowed the fluid, sculpted forms of tailoring to dialogue with the exquisite brushstrokes on canvas, blurring the boundaries of different mediums into a captivating visual harmony.

At the beginning of the panel, Zephyr He pointed out that throughout the long history of aesthetic narrative, flowers and women have often been treated as static, decorative objects. However, it is when women cease framing themselves to fit external gazes and instead confront their raw, inner desires that their true vitality unleashes its rich, vibrant tension. This shift—from being a passive landscape to embodying a conscious subject—marks the definitive first step for life to bloom.

Ai Lin echoed this sentiment from an art history perspective, tracing how the "flower" has evolved from an "object of the gaze" into a vital vehicle for self-expression. In different historical contexts, artists have used floral motifs to break through existing creative languages and reconstruct their spiritual worlds. This shift from passive ornamentation to active expression in art beautifully mirrors the ongoing collective journey of contemporary female self-construction.

Drawing from her experience interviewing 56 remarkable women across diverse fields for the Flower on the Rock podcast, Chen Luyu shared her own evolving perception of the flower motif. She admitted that in her youth, she resisted the connotations of weakness that flowers often carry, preferring imagery with a powerful, majestic feel. It was only through the works of female artists like Pan Yuliang and Georgia O'Keeffe that she realized flowers can carry an intense, complex, and authentic state of life.

As the Chinese translator of the acclaimed novel My Brilliant Friend, Chen Yin dissected the complexity of female self-construction through the lens of literature. Comparing the different paths of the protagonists, Lenù and Lila, she emphasized that true female empowerment requires a deep reflection on disciplined, societal desires. Chen Ying noted that only by breaking away from blind imitation and discovering the authentic, original desires of the heart can a woman’s life truly expand into a broader space of absolute freedom.

Reflecting on her 30-year career, Chen Luyu candidly described her personal paradigm shift from lacking confidence to finding her true voice, urging women to dare to be individuals of flesh and blood with distinct opinions. Ai Lin further conceptualized this journey as "climbing mountains"—overcoming societal perceptions, internal rules, and self-imposed limitations to unlock a continuous stream of creativity. This was epitomized by the 13 female artists in the exhibition who poured their ultimate energy into creation, transforming their names into permanent fixtures in art history.

In a world of relentless acceleration, the panel concluded by emphasizing the luxury of slowing down through deep reading, dialogue, and aesthetic appreciation. This dedication to patient, meticulous growth perfectly mirrors GIADA’s brand philosophy of offering women long-term spiritual nourishment through both artisanal garments and thought-provoking storytelling. By championing the ethos of "Flower on the Rock" GIADA hopes to illuminate the path for contemporary women to move forward resolutely in their own rhythm, blooming authentically beyond the gaze.
